Dallas Mavericks silence the hot Oklahoma City Thunder

With strong bench play, aggressive rebounding and another solid performance from Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks beats the last of the undefeated, the Oklahoma City Thunder,  100 – 87.

The Dallas Maverick seem to be starting to find a grove and rotational play among their key new acquisitions. The Mavericks were able to match the OKC Thunder with 41 rebounds however the Mavericks’ bench outscored them 47 – 25.

Vince Carter is beginning to find his comfort zone coming off the bench with 14 points 3 assists, and 2 rebounds.  Carter is able to both create his shot and post up players which gives the Mavericks a unique option as a SG.

Ian Mahinmi continued to have strong center play and bring energy coming off the bench by scoring 1o points and 9 rebounds, including 4 offensive rebounds. Lamar Odom also seems to be getting his legs under him as he continues to improve.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 27 points and had Shawn Marion guarding him and disrupting his game.  Russell Westbrook added 18 points 8 rebounds and 3 assists but was held to 36.3% from the field.

Side Note:

The Dallas Mavericks will fill their 15th roster spot by signing Chinese superstar Yi Jianlian, who has played 4 years in the NBA for the Bucks, Nets, and Wizards.  He averaged 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds for his career. He was currently playing for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Associations and was the only player to have an NBA out clause in his contract.

Jianlian will begin his NBA season by playing for the Texas Legends in Frisco for the NBDL in order to rehab his knee and get back into game shape.
